United States Army Garrison Ansbach Independence Day Celebration Things to Know 

Join us July 4 at Katterbach Kaserne as we celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States and the enduring spirit of American independence. Enjoy an evening of family-friendly activities, live entertainment, food, and fireworks as we honor 250 years of service, sacrifice, and commitment to our nation. We look forward to celebrating this historic milestone with Soldiers, families, civilians and our friends.

When is it open?
The Independence Day Celebration is Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 5 – 11 p.m.

Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 10:30 p.m.

What can I expect?
There will be music, food and beverages for sale, activities for all ages, Army static displays, and fireworks at the end of the night.

How much does it cost?
Entrance into the fest is free. Food and beverages are available for sale. Activity wristbands will be available for sale. Wristband information coming soon!

How do I pay for food and drinks?

Euros (€) and credit cards will be accepted by food vendors. ATMs are available at the nearby Community Bank and Service Credit Union. Download the USAG Ansbach mobile app for specific bank locations and hours (www.army.mil/a/282396).

How do I get there?

The Independence Day Celebration is located at Katterbach Kaserne. The main entrance is through Katterbach Main Gate. Pedestrians can enter and exit through the Bismarck-Katterbach crossover. Download the USAG Ansbach mobile app for specific locations of the gates (www.army.mil/a/282396).

The on-post shuttle runs between installations during the duration of the event. The last shuttle departs Katterbach at 11:55 p.m. The Garrison Shuttle is for DOD ID cardholders only.

Katterbach South Gate (High School Gate) will remain open only to Katterbach residents exiting and entering the installation—the South Gate is NOT an entrance to the Independence Day event.

Is the Garrison Shuttle running during the Independence Day Celebration?

Yes, the on-post shuttle runs between installations during the duration of the event. The last shuttle departs Katterbach at 11:55 p.m. The Garrison Shuttle is for DOD ID cardholders only. Pick up the shuttle at stops along Bleidorn, Katterbach, Shipton, Storck and Urlas.

 

My friends are not affiliated with the DOD. Can I bring them?
Yes, but enter in your vehicle through the Katterbach Main Gate. The event is open to all authorized personnel (U.S., Local National, Contractor) who have a valid DOD ID card or installation pass registered in the DBIDS system. All guests will be required to show valid identification (Passport/Personalausweis) to access the installation. These authorized personnel are permitted to bring up to four (4) guests onto the installation in the same vehicle for the duration of the event.

What types of items are PROHIBITED from the fest?
Prohibited items include:

·         Alcohol

·         Backpacks

·         Fireworks

·         Pets

·         Coolers

·         Glass bottles

·         Weapons

Bags are permitted but must be no larger than 4” x 8” x 12” (10 x 20 x 30 cm). Diaper bags are permitted and will be thoroughly searched. No backpacks are permitted.

Can I bring my pet?
No, pets are not allowed. The Independence Day Celebration with fireworks may not be in the best interest of your pet.

Can I bring my own beer?
No. You are prohibited from bringing your own alcohol and glass bottles. Food and beer will be available for sale.

Will there be a military equipment display again this year?
Yes, static military vehicles and equipment will be on display.

What do I do if there is inclement weather during the event?

The event will take place rain or shine. In case of inclement weather, garrison staff will issue announcements over the loud speakers.

Event organizers recommend finding shelter inside the Katterbach Fitness Center, Katterbach Bowling Center, or you can leave the event and head to your vehicles. You will be able to re-enter the event if this happens. 

NOTE: During thunderstorms or lightning, patrons should NOT take shelter under tents or canopies. If there is inclement weather, some activities may not be available due to safety reasons.
