It is also one of life’s high-stress events. The Relocation Readiness Program supports America’s mobile Army through educational training, guidance and outreach efforts. Available in group and individual settings.

Our services include providing arrival information, newcomers orientations and local area tours, and a well stocked lending closet of kitchen and household supplies. Cultural adaptation classes are offered to assist in adjusting quickly in Germany. Sponsorship training, PCS briefings and Smooth Move classes ensure that all are prepared as they transition.

Lending Closet

Borrow a loaner kit while you wait for your household goods to arrive or when in between moves. The kit includes basic kitchen items (pots, pans, dishes, silverware) and small appliances such as irons, coffee makers, and toasters.

Loaners are good for an initial 60 days and can be extended.

Welcome Packets

Welcome packets include on– and off-post information (e.g. brochures and information booklets on the local community, including events, shopping, restaurants, city maps and more). Visit our Main ACS location at Katterbach, Bldg 5817A to pick up your welcome packet. 

Host Nation Orientation

Learn about German customs, culture and phrases while being introduced to your new community to include several military agencies. This two-day orientation includes classroom instruction on day one, and a walking tour of downtown Ansbach on day two where you will learn how to use the public transportation, use the ticket machines and to read train schedules and navigate around the Altstadt. 

Host Nation Orientation meets every two weeks on Wednesday and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Army Community Service Building 5817A on Katterbach Kaserne. 

Language Classes
  • English As A Second Language -- Become familiar with basic English language rules. Classes are offered throughout the year. Classes are held every Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. at ACS. 
  • German Language -- Learn the basics and other phrases of the German language and cultural differences. Feel confident going out and navigating around your new community. Classes are offered throughout the year. Classes are held every Tuesday from 12-1 p.m.
